A Letter From Our Founders

Dear customers, friends, family, fellow alcoholics,

When we started Orchid Sake Brewery, we set out to do something that had never been done here — to brew sake in Singapore, and through it, to bring the craft, patience, and quiet artistry of Japan to find a new home in one of the strongest multicultural centres in the world. To impart, to share, and to evolve.

That belief is still what gets us out of bed. Along with our dearest hope to provide a beverage of value like nothing else this country has seen before.

Recent times have tested us, though. Our licence renewal was delayed by several months — we were unable to brew for most of them. For a young brewery, this much silence in the tank room for that amount of time can be deadly.

We’re now brewing at full blast to make up for every one of those days. But costs are catching up — and the cost we care about most is our people. Our brewing team is majority Singaporean, learning a craft that has never before had a home in this country. We see the basis of a diverse team as essential, and we are determined to see their training through. To do that, we need to keep the lights on and the tanks full through this catch-up season.

So we’re asking for a bit of help. Really, to get drunk as much as humanly possible this National Day period.

We’re opening our walk-in chiller. From now till 26th August (International Dog Day — I’ll mention why at the end of this letter), select bottles from our range go on clearance — everything except for the two bottles that we can’t stock up for the rest of the year, Utama Classic and Tropic (you guys drank it all, we ordered half the rice that we should have). Every bottle you take home directly funds the next brew and the training of the team behind it.

And because we want to reward those who move with us first, the discount starts at its highest and shrinks with every bottle sold. The earlier you join us, the more you save. Watch the counter — once it’s gone, it’s gone.

As one more bonus, that can hopefully reprieve you of your soon-to-come loss of Utama Classic and Tropic in 2026, we’re releasing our newest SKU for preorder — a Junmai Daiginjo sake made with 42% Omachi rice of the highest grade, featuring our COO and resident Cavapoo, Masamune. In celebration of International Dog Day, we’re donating 5% of all proceeds of his preorders to Save Our Street Dogs — made out exactly when this campaign ends.

Our belief remains that we’re drinkers feeding drinkers, and we’ll have you in mind every step of the way as we make our way to the world stage. Reach out for anything — we’ll always be here to serve.

With gratitude,

Reuben (CEO) & Yumika (CBO) (and Masamune, COO)
