I had a wonderful experience on the Kansai Sake tour with Reuben, Yumika and Jonathan (an American in Mie!).
The team brought us to sights, smells and tastes that only locals in Japan can bring us to. This spans amazing sake brewery experience, the top scenic spots in Japan, fresh seafood that is still moving on the plate to fresh sake that is not even labelled yet.
The hospitality was wonderful, the itinerary was thoughtfully planned out.
A highly recommended experience!
We had a fantastic time with Reuben and Jonathan on the Autumn 2026 Tochigi sake tour! We had the opportunity to meet the sake breweries' owners and master brewers who introduced their brewery personnally to us - something that I personally wouldn't have been able to do without this tour. Our food and accommodation were great and Reuben + Jonathan went the extra mile to ensure our needs and wants are met.
We also had fun with our fellow travelers exploring Japanese izakayas, local haunts & bars as well as places we otherwise wouldn't have known.
Last but not least - we had plenty of sake! What a wonderful tour to learn more about it and the people behind it. Highly recommended!
A Memorable Kansai Sake and Culinary Adventure
We had a wonderful time exploring Kansai in October 2026 with Reuben and his team. From visiting small, traditional sake breweries to discovering hidden culinary gems and charming towns off the usual tourist trail, the trip was full of delightful surprises.
The food and sake experiences were particularly memorable. We enjoyed sashimi so incredibly fresh that it was still twitching, a lobster broth bursting with amazing umami, and a delicious local mikan liqueur filled with juicy citrus sacs that burst in the mouth. And what a treat it was to taste some of the most delicious freshly made sake we’ve ever had, right where it was brewed! The visit to Iio Jozo vinegar brewery was another fascinating experience, giving us a glimpse into the dedication and craftsmanship behind its exceptional products.
Beyond the food and sake, we loved the breathtaking views at Amanohashidate, the peaceful beauty of Ise Jingu Shrine and the opportunity to explore parts of Japan we would never have discovered on our own.
A big thank you to Reuben, Yumika, Yuta-san and Jonathan for putting together such an interesting and enjoyable trip. We really appreciated the care that went into choosing the breweries, restaurants and local experiences, as well as all the little details that made travelling so easy. Everyone’s passion for sake (including our fellow travellers) was infectious, and their knowledge and enthusiasm added so much to the experience.
Just as memorable were the good company, lively conversations and laughter over meals. The relaxed and friendly atmosphere made the whole journey feel more like travelling with friends than being on an organised tour.
Thank you again for the wonderful memories, fantastic food and sake, and the chance to experience a different side of Japan. We’d happily join you on another adventure!
