… where the treatment is more sake.

Welcome to our sake 101 session where the first sake brewery in Singapore brings the beverage closer to your understanding across a staggering line-up of sake tastings including Singaporean and Japanese styles.

Do…

  • sake labels still leave you more confused than informed?
  • you want to know how to journey across the world of sake bottles in a way catered to your own preferences?
  • you have an interest in all the multitudes of serving styles temperatures inherent to the beverage?
  • want to spend an afternoon drinking while getting all these questions answered?

Savour 10 sakes across Orchid Sake Brewery’s range and sakes from across Japan, and be brought through a 2 and a half hour workshopping session where you’ll be brought to areas of sake drinking you’ve never met before.

  • Try out our koji and sake kasu, and eating polished Japanese sake rice
  • Get insight beyond just the polishing of a bottle - and how to find out what styles suit your palate best.
  • A quick summary on seasonal and cultural styles that previously likely perplexed you.
  • Try out sake in different vessels and temperatures to discover the varietal beauty of the beverage.
  • Further cultural and historical insight into Japan.
  • 10 bottle tasting - equivalent to a bit over half a bottles volume per person. We provide water too, dont worry.
  • Some Japanese snacks provided

Your lecturer for this session is Reuben Oh, our co-founder. Over the last 5-6 years he has been to nearly all of Japan as a Young Sake Ambassador, initially invited to Japan during Covid by the Japanese embassy to Singapore. He visited multitudes of breweries through his journey there, before deciding that the biggest respect he could do for the people and culture of sake brewing was to foolhardily attempt it in his own tropical island home.
